Everest Three passes Trek is one of the most popular destinations to do the trekking among the trekking routes in the Everest region. The ultimate trekking experience in the Everest region and going beyond the classic Everest Base camp trekking route, Everest Three passes trek is well known. This infamous trekking route takes us to the Everest Base Camp, Everest View Hotel, Kalapatthar, Gokyo Lake, Gokyo Ri and various Sherpa villages while crossing three high passes in the Himalayas i.e Renjo-la (5388m), Cho- la pass (5380m) and Kongma-la pass (5535m).

Similar to other Everest Base Camp trails, Everest three passes trek starts with sightseeing in Kathmandu valley famous for its rich culture, tradition and monarchical history, restaurants and temples. Then, a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla begins the trek formally. Trek from Lukla to Phakding and then to Namche, the bazaar of inborn mountaineers (Sherpa) with scenery of changing landscapes, Monasteries, and ever smiling Himalayas provides you the glimpse of more fascinating views and adventure still to encounter.

Parting ways with the main Everest trail, we head to Thame and then to Nangpa valley. We cross one of the highest passes Renjo- la to make our way to Gokyo lake. Then we climb up Gokyo Ri that provides a spectacular view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Cho- Oyo. We then head towards Kalapatthar for an up close view of Mt. Everest after crossing high Cho-la pass. Then, we descend to Lobuche before crossing the Kangma-la pass and reaching Chukung. Following the route from Marlung to Nangpa La and then to Thame, we reach the classic Everest base camp trail. We then trek back to Namche and finally to Lukla from where we head back to Kathmandu and complete the circuit.

Everest Three pass trek is a tougher trek and suitable for those who have past trekking experiences in similar climates. It is a 18 day trek. Autumn (sept. -Nov) and spring (march-may) are the best season for the trek. Nepal Pioneer Treks & Expedition has been ever present to make your trek easier, comfortable and more memorable.

Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu International airport then transfers to Hotel

Day 02: Fly to Lukla at 2840m (9088 Ft), then trek to Phakding at 2610m (8352 Ft).

Day 03: Trek from Phakding to Namchebazaar at 3440m (11008 Ft).

Day 04: Rest day at Namchebazaar.

Day 05: Trek from Namchebazaar to Thame at 3800m (12160 Ft).

Day 06: Trek from Thame to Lungdhen at 4380m (14o16Ft).

Day 07: Trek to Renjola at 5360 (17152 Ft) Gokyo 4790m (15328 Ft)

Day 08: Hike to Gokyo Ri at 5357m (17142 Ft), then look around the lake and stay overnight.

Day 9: Trek from Gokyo to Dragnak at 4700 (15040Ft).

Day 10: Trek from Dragnak to the Cholapass at 5368m (17177 Ft), Dzonglha at 4830m(15456 Ft) Then Lobuche at 4910m (15712 Ft).

Day 11: Trek from Lobuche to Gorekhshep at 5140m (16448 Ft), then trek to Everest Base Camp at 5364m (17165 Ft).

Day 12: Hike to Kalapathar at 5550m (17760 Ft), then back to Lobuche at 4910m (15712 Ft).

Day 13: Trek from Lobuche to Kongma -La at 5535m (17712 Ft), then trek to  to  Chhukung at 4730m (15136).

Day 14: Trek from Chhukung to Namche Bazaar at 3440m (11008 Ft)

Day 15: Trek back to Lukla at 2840m (9088 Ft).

Day 16: Fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu at 1300m (4160 ft) then transfer to hotel.

Day 17: Departure for home.

Note: Due to the bad weather of domestic flights from Kathmandu to  Lukla and after the trek from Lukla to Kathmandu delayed sometimes by a few hours or canceled for a day or more. It could happen even in best trekking season also as you know how climate changes effecting in the world and especially Himalayan Region of Nepal. Perhaps we always recommend you to add supplement nights in Kathmandu after your trek if possible. If everything goes well, you can enjoy other activities like sightseeing, White water rafting, wildlife activities, shopping, as you wish for those extra days. However, if you want a helicopter rescue instead of flight cancellation from Kathmandu to Lukla and Lukla to Kathmandu we can organize according to your request.

Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu

Upon on your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, one of our staff will be there to warm greeting you with beautiful garland that is our respect and the culture to welcome to the new stranger. After welcoming you our staff will transfer to you to the hotel. After your long journey on a plane, you may get tired so be fresh and take a bit rest, then our manager will come to meet you to the hotel and talk about the plan of your trip.

Day 02: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, trek to Phakding

Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. You should be ready early in the morning to fly to Lukla. Its a45 minutes scenic fly to Lukla. Lukla is the most critical airport. Once you arrived in Lukla have breakfast,  then start your trek. Lukla is the gateway to do the Everest Base Camp Trekking. Today you have a short day trek approximately three hour trek. You can enjoy the scenery and some of the peaks. You can pass some villages like as Chheplung, thadokoshi, Ghat and you will be arriving at Phakding then stay overnight there.

Day 03: Trek from Phakding to Namchebazaar

Trek to Namchebazar. Namche Bazaar is the biggest town on this trip. You should have a breakfast in Phakding. After breakfast you should start your trek to Namche Bazaar. The trail much harder than the last day. In the beginning of the day you should cross the bridge, then passages some little towns. While you are walking on the trail you can enjoy the mountain views of Thamserku and Kusumkangaru. You can see the Dodhkoshi river and the scenery. Monju is a nice place where we should check our trekking permit. After 10 minutes walk you should cross the bridge again and reach at Jorsalle. You might stop for lunch there. After you have lunch, you should have a big climb to Namche Bazaar. You will see the Hilary bridge, double suspension bridge and then get to Topdanda. There is a very nice view point. You can see the Everest at the first time if the weather is clear and there is no cloud. Next  one and half hour walk you will reach at Namche Bazaar then stay overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Rest day at Namchebazaar

Rest day at Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is the best place to explore the day. The acclimatization day you should ascend about three, four hundred meter, then back to the hotel. Namche bazaar is the main center of the Solukhumbu region. Our guide takes you to the Everest view point to see all the mountain views. It takes about two hours walk, then you can back via Khumjung village, visit Hillary school. If you have more time to explore the day, you can visit the Sherpa Museum then stay overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Day 05: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Thame

Trek to Thame. Today you trek to Thame, nice and easy walk. Enjoy the country site and the river, Bhote Koshi. You can see the small hydro electricity power, visit the Monastery in Thamo. You will arrive at Thame after four hours walk, then explore the town, nice and big village of Sherpa, then stay overnight at Thame.

Day 06: Trek from Thame to Lumde

Trek to Lumde. Today your trek to Lumde takes about five hour walk. The trail climbs gradually up until to the Lumde. You can enjoy the countryside, scenery, mountain and the river view of Bhote Koshi, which is a flow of the Tibet site. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 07: Trek from Lumde to Renjola then Gokyo

Trek to Renjola then Gokyo. Today trek to over the Renjo-La pass, the most easiest pass among the three passes. The trail all the way gradual climb to the top of Renjo-la, takes about four to five hours, take photographs of all the magnificent views of mountain including Everest, Choyu, Makalu, Lhotse over eight thousand meters and several peak around. After the pass you should descend Gokyo Lake then walk on the side of the lake until to Gokyo. It takes about seven, eight hours walk today and stay overnight at Gokyo.

Day 08: Acclimatization day at Gokyo

Rest day at Gokyo. Today you need the rest. It means the acclimatization. You should hike to the Gokyo Ri, takes about three hours to get to the top. The incredible views, you feel really the different world from the top. You can see the views of over eight thousand meters mountain views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and the Choyu just in front of you. Take all the views of mountain, Gokyo valleys and the lovely view of Gokyo lake then back to the Gokyo, have a lunch then after looking around the lakes and the surrounding hills. Stay overnight at Gokyo.

Day 09: Trek from Gokyo to Thagnak

Trek to Thagnak. Today, you have very short and easy trek just about three hours walk. The trail climbs up in the beginning, then drop down a bit and walk on Glacier. You should be careful while you walk on the glacier. Enjoy the incredible view of Choyu, stay overnight at Thagnak.

Day 10: Trek from Thagnak to Zongla to Lobuche

Trek to Chola, Zongla then Lobuche. Today you have  a hard day and must be tired after seven eight hour walk. You should  start early in the morning around four, five o’clock.The trail climbs up in the beginning, then drop down a bit afterwards you should be climb until the top of Chola. You should be careful while you take near to the top because of the narrow trail, rocky and it may fall down the stones. After getting to the top of Chola take photographs with your friends and your fellow guide and porters. You should  drop down from the top until to Zongla enjoying the magnificent views of Amadoblam, Nuptche, Everest, Makalu and other several surrounding peaks then enjoy the lunch at Zongla. After that you should manage enough time to reach at Lobuche. The trail nice and easy to get to Lobuche, takes about three hours and stay overnight at Lobuche.

Day 11: Trek fro Lobuche to Gorek Shep to EBC

Trek to Gorak Shep. The trail continues to Gorak Shep at 5160m. It takes approximately three hours gradual climb. Once you arrive at Gorak Shep, you should prepare to go to the Everest Base Camp. The trail more likely rocks, narrow and sometimes windy as well. Today will fulfill your dream. You had very hard time to come to Nepal not only that you dream to do the Everest Base Camp once in your lifetime. Take photograph with the group and your friends, then back the same way to Gorakhshep and stay overnight at Gorak Shep.

Day 12: Hike to Kalapathar then trek back to Lobuche

Today, hike to Kalapathar (Black Rock) at 5545m early in the a morning will then trek back to Lobuche. Kalapathar is like a small peak offers the best view of Everest without climbing it. The view of Everest is pretty close from the Kalapathar, take some photograph, it must  memorable, then back down to Gorekhshep have breakfast, then trek back down until to Lobuche and stay overnight there.

Day 13: Trek from Lobuche to Khombala to Dingboche

Trek to Khombala  then Dingboche. Today is your another pass day to Khombala. This is the hardest passes among the three. Takes about five, six hours walk to the top, then drop down to the Dingboche. Take photographs from the top of all the mountain view, then drops down to the Chhokum and get to Dingboche much warmer place, then stay overnight there.

Day 14: Trek back from Dingboche to Namchebazaar

Trek to Namchebazaar. Today you feel much better when you descent already from the Everest Base Camp and all the three pass trek trail. You have to back the same way passing through the Pangboche, Tengboche, Fungethanga, Lausasa and Kyanjuma. You may see some wild animal and birds if you are lucky. Himalayan Thar, Blue Ship and Musk Deer can see around. The national bird of Nepal Lhophophoras (Danphe) also can see near to the Namchebazaar. You can explore sometimes in Namchebazaar again if you arrive earlier and  manage your time then stay overnight at Namchebazaar.

Day 15: Trek from Namche to Lukla

Trek back to Lukla. Today is your last day trek. You should walk all the way to Lukla mostly the down hill, passes so many country site and villages like Jorsalle, Monju, Banker, Phakding, Ghat and some more towns. You have a last night in the mountain, get to gather with your friends and stay overnight at Lukla.

Day 16: Fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu

Fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu. Most of the time you have a morning flight so you should be prepared to go to the airport on time. You should have very nice and 45 minutes scenic flight to Kathmandu. Our guide still with you to drop you to the hotel in Kathmandu. Our manager will meet you in the evening then take you for the farewell dinner and drop you to the hotel, stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 17: Departure Day

Departure for home. Today our driver will drop you to the International Airport for the final departure. Wish you have a nice and safe journey back home.
